Program Information...

Event Title: FY2013 Capital Development Request & Base Funding Increase
Presentation Title: Utility Distribution Infrastructure Replacement for the University of Utah
Description: At 160 years old, the University of Utah is the oldest university in the state. Much of the University's current infrastructure was completed more than 40 years ago. This infrastructure has received only patch maintenance with few minor upgrades over the decades.

Electrical power and the high temperature water distribution systems are in desperate need of an overhaul. We are faced with a decaying infrastructure that is clearly a safety and reliability issue.

The total cost to replace the high temperature water distribution piping and all the deteriorated electrical distribution system is $99 million. The University's Capital Development request is for $50 million.
